Sun Prairie

Silas M. Kittle, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2018. He was born on February 22, 1937 in Richland County, Wisconsin, son of Henry and Dollie (Alumbaugh) Kittle. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Ferguson on April 20, 1958 in Ground Mound, Iowa. Together they were married 60 years and raised four children.

Silas graduated from Richland Center H.S. in 1956. After graduation he worked for the Waunakee Foundry for 10 years and Sun Prairie High School, as a custodian for 4 years. Silas worked for American Family Insurance and retired as an equipment maintenance supervisor in 2000. During his retirement he owned and operated Ma and Pa Design Engraving along with his wife Marilyn.

Silas and Marilyn shared the love of square dancing and Silas enjoyed calling square dances for 14 years. They both served as president, vice-president, and secretary of United Square Dancers of America and were members of The National Square Dance Campers Association. Silas also found great joy in wood carving and performing as a ventriloquist. He was an active member of the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; daughters Terri (Bob) Smith and Connie (Jim) Guyll; son-in-law David (Sharon Schmidt) Lust; daughter-in-law Heidi Kittle; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and his sister Betty Emerson. He was preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Lust; son Scott Kittle; great grandson Walter Fenton and a brother and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, 702 North Street, Sun Prairie on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jenny Arneson officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sun Prairie United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center in Madison and Sun Prairie.
