Strandlie, Lawrence 'Sonny'
Stoughton- Lawrence M. 'Sonny' Strandlie, age 81, passed away in Verona on Friday, April 22, 2011. He was born to Lawrence M. and Myrtle (Leikness) Strandlie, Sr. in Stoughton on January 4, 1930. He married Phyllis Stoner on July 1, 1949. He always said he loved her from Day One. Sonny proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Nellis and Lowry Air Force Bases, and also on Guam. He was discharged as a sergeant in 1955. Sonny was employed for many years at Uniroyal. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughters, June (Bill) Schlough, and Jan (Tom) McKethan; grandchildren, Jennifer (Corey) Schwenn, Christopher Layton, and Michael (Charleen) McKethan; step-grandchildren, Mitchell Schlough, and Emily (Russ) Sagmoen; great grandchildren, Brad Layton, and Kyle and Erica Schwenn; step-great grandchildren, Nicole Goedel and Henrick Sagmoen; a sister, Beverly (Dave) Stronach; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Curtis and Dennis Strandlie; and by an infant daughter. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 1:00pm at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, with the Rev. Mark Petersen officiating. Military Rites will take place at church, and luncheon will follow at the Stoughton VFW hall. The family will greet friends at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton on Thursday, April 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, and again at church on Friday from noon until the time of service.
