Stella Y.K. Wong, age 73, passed away peacefully Monday, August 21, 2017 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. Born in China in 1943, Stella immigrated to the United States in 1969 after marrying Soo Fon Lee Wong. After her husband's passing in 1988, she worked hard to support her family by continuing to waitress at the Golden Dragon restaurant off the Capitol Square. Determined to put her children through college, she became a sole business owner in 1991. For over 20 years, she was fondly remembered by the Madison community as the hard-working owner/operator of Yee's Laundry where she greeted everyone with a smile. Following retirement in 2012, Stella spent her time traveling around the world and visiting family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Soo Fon Lee Wong and her parents, Mah Yue Keung and Tom Sue Ching. She is survived by: her loving companion of nearly 20 years, Tung Chau Wong; three daughters, Nancy Brooks (Fred), Amanda Wenning (Tom), Kim Thompson (Jason); a son, Lanny Wong (Hannah); nine grandchildren, Josh, Henry, Grant, Quentin, Garrett, Miles, Vera, Reuben, and Ripley; a sister, Anissa; four brothers, George (Laura), Anthony (Wendy), Andy (Jean), and Richard (Teresa); and many nieces and nephews.
Stella was a loving and devoted wife, companion, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Cress Funeral Home in Madison. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M.. Private burial will be held the following day.
