Stephen Kronzer

Portage - Stephen H. Kronzer, age 71, passed away on October 4, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare from lung cancer. He was born on June 13, 1945 to Bernard and Nathalie (Sinkler) Kronzer in Two Rivers. Stephen received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and went on to obtain a master's degree from UW Oshkosh.

Stephen worked for 38 years for the State of Wisconsin, with the majority of time at the Department of Corrections as the Deputy Secretary of the Dept. of Corrections and later as Director of Correctional Enterprises. He was known nationally as a leader in prison industries and re-entry programs. Stephen was also an avid sports fan, particularly of the Wisconsin Badgers.

Stephen is survived by his two sons, Craig (Tricia) Kronzer and Ryan (Patricia Fitzgerald) Kronzer; his grandchildren, Linnea, Olivia, Sophia and Eero; his brothers, Lance (Kay) Kronzer and Richard (Donna) Kronzer; his good friend, Loretta Gordon, and her children, Tia, Sara, Cheyenne, Sierra and Myles. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with a visitation from 12 noon until the time of service. Burial and an informal gathering will be held at a later date in Two Rivers. Memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718.
