Steven John Acker

            Steven John Acker, age 72, of Dane passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 6th, 2024 at home. He was born on April 8, 1951 in Madison, the son of Herbert and Ruth Acker. He married Deborah Johnson on Dec. 4th, 1972 in Dane, WI. Steve attended St. Peter Catholic School in Ashton, WI. He graduated in 1969 from Middleton High School. Steven was employed most of his working years at M.A.T.C. as the Technical Plant Supervisor and was now enjoying retirement.           

            In his youth, he enjoyed pulling tug-o-war competitively for the Ashton Tigers-even winning state and traveling to Ireland to compete in the Championships in 1978. He enjoyed many years of pitching in horseshoe leagues and playing cards with numerous friends. Most of all, he enjoyed being a major part of his 3 grandkids’ lives and was devoted to their sports activities and spending time with them driving in his truck, going out to eat, and going to church.

            He is survived by his wife, Deborah Acker, daughter, Erika (Doug) Kalscheuer, son, Jeremy Acker, (Friend-Amber), grandchildren Stephanie, Logan, and Brody Kalscheuer, his mother, Ruth Acker, Brothers, Ken (Connie) Acker, Mark (Joan) Acker, brothers-in-law David (Diane) Johnson, Dean (Kathy) Johnson and multiple nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by infant daughter Stephanie Acker, his Father Herbert Acker, and in-laws LaVern and Irene Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Tues. Feb 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St John’s Catholic Church 209 South Street, Waunakee. Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee, on Monday, Feb 12, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Tues from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in St Patrick’s Cemetery in Lodi.
