Steven Johnson

Cottage Grove / Deerfield - Steven M. Johnson, age 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. He was born in Stoughton, Wisc., son of Robert and Hazel Johnson. He married Lori Kahler in 1971 in Madison.

Steven graduated from Deerfield High School. He served in the Air National Guard for 6 years. After his discharge he worked for the Madison Metropolitan School District for over thirty years until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed car shows, all sports, U.W. Football and Basketball, Packers, Brewers, and NASCAR. Steve also enjoyed wood working and tinkering with anything mechanical. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix.

He is survived by his wife Lori Johnson; daughter Wendy (David); brother Robert (Sharon), nephew Chris, ex sister-in-law, Pixie, he is also survived by many brother and sister in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday January 26, 2017 at Abiding Shepherd Lutheran Church, 406 Cottage Grove Rd., Cottage Grove. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, 201 Bue St., Deerfield. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Church.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at U.W. Carbone Cancer Center, Agrace HospiceCare, and RSVP of Dane County.

Steve was very humble. We're going to miss his smile, humor, numerous stories, and helpful advice. We love you and will forever.
