Steven F Schwartz of Cape Coral, FL (formerly Cross Plains, WI) passed away on 8/7/2024 surrounded by family. He was born 10/24/1950 in Madison, WI, the son of Harold and Mary Ann Schwartz. He married Karen Jacobson on 11/6/1971 in Middleton, WI.
Steve and Karen settled in Cross Plains, WI where they raised their children. Steve worked many jobs including landscaping, concrete, construction, WI DNR, UW and ending his career at WI DMV. Steve enjoyed many hobbies including snowmobiling, motorcycling, dancing, and was an avid boater. Steve, Karen, and their children spent many years boating. This time was full of many adventures, laughs, friendships, and memories.
Steve was a great boat captain and passed his knowledge and skill to his children and grandchildren. Steve loved spending time with his family. He would take them fishing, boating, play games, bake cookies, and just make them laugh.
Steve was also known for his smart remarks, being a jokester and ability to converse with anyone which built a large network of friends over the years. Steve and Karen retired to Cape Coral, FL to a great condo community that also allowed them to continue their love of boating. Steve and Karen made more friends in this new community.
Steve loved to go dancing and twirl Karen around the dance floor. Steve and Karen had many family vacations with their children and grandchildren in Florida visiting Disney, taking cruises, local attractions, fishing, and boating. For their 50th wedding anniversary, they spent 2 weeks with their children and grandchildren exploring Colorado. Steve and Karen were married for 53 years. They shared a beautiful life together full of love and laughter. Their marriage is a shining example to their children and grandchildren of what love should be.
Steve is survived by his wife, Karen, children, Angela Taberski, Jeremy (Tracy)Schwartz, 5 wonderful grandchildren Amelia, John, Hayden, Tristan and Lily, his mother Mary Ann Schwartz, siblings Janice (Donnie) Ballweg, Jerry (Jane) Schwartz, Donnie (Sue) Schwartz, Carol Wipperfurth (Bill), Linda (Greg) Ruchti, Julie (Greg) Thering, Mike (Darlene)Schwartz, sister-in-law Rhonda (Paul) Daines, brother-in-laws Kelvin (Gail) Jacobson and Randy (Jeri) Jacobson, aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his son-in-law Jeffrey Taberski, niece (God daughter) Jennifer Thering, father Harold Schwartz, Sister Sue Ann Schwartz, mother-in-law Bedena Jacobson, father-in-law Bernard (John) Jacobson, as well as many aunts and uncles.
Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us everyday unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, but very dear.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, WI 53590. Visitation will continue from 10-11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 5001 North Sherman Avenue, Madison, WI 53704 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM. Following the Mass, the family invites guests to the Esquire Club, 1025 North Sherman Ave, Madison, WI 53704. Steve will be brought to his final place of rest in a private ceremony at Manning Cemetery in Readstown, WI at a later date.
