Steven A. Vicen, aged 82, of Madison, WI passed away peacefully at home on February 3rd, 2023. Steve was born July 15, 1940 in Milwaukee, WI to Steven C. Vicen and Elizabth W. (née Neefe) Vicen.
Steve lived his entire life in Wisconsin, graduating high school in Brookfield and attending Lakeland College in Sheboygan. In 1965, Steve wed Pamela Ann Rebbe in Milwaukee. After their first child was born, the couple settled down in Madison, where they had their second child. Steve went on to work for the UW-Madison Department of Plant Pathology as a media specialist and biological photographer until his retirement in 2002.
Throughout his life, Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping with family and friends. He also enjoyed watching Wisconsin Badgers sports teams, the Green Bay Packers, and the Indianapolis 500. Later in life, he took up the hobby of lapidary and silversmithing. He made many one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces that he shared amongst his loved ones. Steve loved his yearly travels to national parks and the Southwest. He collected many Native American trinkets, jewelry, and artwork along the way. He was a great, albeit long-winded, storyteller of the many adventures he went on. Steve will fondly be remembered by his family for his unique catch phrases such as, “I’m just resting my eyes” and “It’s time to head west, Pamela.”
Steve is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Pam; two children, Steven E. Vicen (Brenda) and Michelle V. Good (Allen); and six adored grandchildren, Nathan, Emma, and Kathryn Vicen, and Michael, Matthew, and Jacqueline Good.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joyce. Services will be private for the family.
