Susan Elrod

November 12, 1959 — October 23, 2015

Susan Michele Elrod, known as Michele, passed away at home on Friday, October 23, 2015. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Beatty, her daughter and son-in-law, Alyssa Beatty and Jake Turner, Brooklyn, NY, her step-mom Marsha Elrod, Cedar Creek, TX, and her step-brothers Terry Williams, Fort Worth, TX, Darryl Williams, Arlington, TX, and Jerry Williams, Nashville, TN.

Michele was born on November 12, 1959 in Oxnard, CA and grew up in Texas. She graduated Southwest Texas State University and earned her Master's Degree at Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She spent her whole career working for non-profit organizations.

She was an exceptionally talented cook and crafts woman who loved entertaining, travel, reading, and, especially, her cat. She was intelligent with a mischievous sense of humor and sharp wit, yet generous and compassionate with those in need, whether friends or strangers. She loved life and stubbornly refused to be limited by her multiple medical issues, inspiring many around her with her indomitable spirit. Those of us fortunate enough to have had her touch our lives are forever left richer by the experience.

A gathering to celebrate Michele's life will be Monday, November 2, 2015 from 1-4 pm. at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway, Madison, WI. No flowers, please, but donations to Dane County Humane Society are appreciated.
