Susan Margaret Huelsman (“DJ Susie”), age 59 of Waunakee, passed away after her courageous battle with breast cancer on November 11, 2023, at the Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
Born on January 29, 1964, to Ramon and Dolores Gaeding in Chicago, Susie graduated from St. Gregory High School in 1982 and moved to the Madison area in 1990. Susie eventually relocated to Waunakee, earned a business degree, and worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, UW-Extension and, most recently, the Central Wisconsin Center, retiring from state service (due to the cancer) on September 7, 2023.
While Susie was a mild-mannered accountant during the day, at night and on weekends she became “DJ Susie,” professionally deejaying hundreds upon hundreds of weddings, special events, and karaoke shows throughout the Madison area and much of Wisconsin for nearly the past two decades. Susie especially loved working weddings. She would involve children with their own activities, provide one of the best photo booth experiences in the industry, and always keep the dance floor busy, earning a perfect 5.0 score on Wedding Wire and even being named “Best DJ of Madison” by Madison Magazine in 2019 and again in 2022. See the websites TheSusieShow.com and SusieShowWeddings.com for further details regarding this amazing and talented woman!
Susie is survived by her loving and devoted husband Scott Huelsman (who ran the photo booth and assisted Susie in all her events throughout the years), her siblings Ramon Gaeding (Amelia), Kathleen Beck (Jim), Diane Neumann (Ray) and Fred Gaeding (Pam), her parents Ramon and Dolores Gaeding, her children Jason Lampman (Ana), Marsha Kath (Reed) and James Czaplicki, and her beloved grandchildren Trinity Kath, RJ Kath, Kaz Lampman, Raddix Lampman and Arrow Lampman. She was preceded in death by her sister Cecilia Gee.
