Madison - Susan Murdock, loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend left this earth on Saturday, May 18th, surrounded by family. She was born, September 26, 1932 in Wonewoc, Wisconsin to Maurine (White) and Dewey Murdock.
After high school Susan moved to Madison and fell in love with the city, remaining there to raise her family.
Susan was a passionate caregiver. Among her career choices she found her passion working with people through Orchard Hill and Options in Community Living. She formed true friendships with her coffee groups, swimming groups and her "kids" at the Overture Center.
The greatest joy over the past 23 years has come from enjoying life with her four precious grandchildren. Each one enriched her life through their sporting events, concerts, art shows, awards and special moments.
Susan is survived by her children, Maurie, Kelly, Sue (Doug) and Gwain (Karen); her siblings Sally, Ruth (Peter) and Tom; her grandchildren Peter, Benjamin, Hannah and Grant. She is further survived by dear friends Ruth and Barb, many nieces, nephews, and her beloved St. Bernard Bree.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Rose, Sam, Jerry, James and Judson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Toby Campbell and his team at the Carbone Cancer Treatment Center, as well as, all of the UW Hospital staff, for the wonderful care Susan received.
A Celebration of Life with the family will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave. from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Susan's name to the Carbone Cancer Treatment Center or the American Cancer Society.
