Suzanne Marie Zietz, 96, of Middleton, Wisconsin, was called home by Jesus in the early morning on December 12th, 2024. Suzanne was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 21, 1928, to Ruby (Kemp) Gall and Fred Gall. She was a single child and loved deeply by her parents.
On New Years Eve in 1943, Suzanne met the love of her life at a party. After that evening, she never looked back because on that night she met her soul mate, Earl Ericksen Zietz. They danced and laughed together, and the romance only built from there.
They were a mutually exclusive couple even though they attended separate high schools in Chicago. After high school, Earl went into service and Suzanne waited for his return while working several jobs. On March 6, 1948, after Earl received an Honorable Discharge, they married. Their union lasted almost 75 years, until Earl passed away on New Year’s Eve in 2022. With 1943 being their first, and 2022 being their last, it was their 80th New Years Eve anniversary.
Suzanne and Earl moved to Milwaukee where they were blessed with three children. They raised their children in a loving home that they ended up owning for over 40 years. Suzanne loved to bake, make family dinners, decorate for the holidays and tend to her flower garden. She had a green thumb and spent many hours outside working in the yard.
Outside of the home, Suzanne worked several jobs. She held positions at the now defunct A&P, a bank, beauty salon, boutique, and as a “hat check girl” at Frenchy’s restaurant in Milwaukee, with the restaurant job being of particular fun. Suzanne loved to dress up for any occasion, which is why a retail manager position she took at J.C.Penney suited her very well. She spent many years there while still making ample time for family.
Suzanne leaves behind children Karen (Tom) Bruce, Marsha (Paul) Henfer, Fred (Kara) Zietz, grandchildren Erik (Randi) Bruce, Amanda Henfer, Bryan (Jessica) Henfer, Christopher Henfer, Nathan (Brittany) Henfer, Wade (Kayla) Bruce, Zachary (Kathryn) Zietz, Taylor, Adrian, Bryson and Dacion Zietz, and 13 Great Grandchildren. Quite a legacy.
Although the family mourns her passing, they celebrate that she resides in Heaven and has been reunited with Earl and other family members that have passed before her.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21st, 2024, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 6815 Schneider Rd, Middleton, WI, with Reverend Randy Hunter officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service and a luncheon will follow at the church. Burial for Suzanne will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, WI at 2:30 p.m.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you for the care and compassion provided by Cardinal View Senior Living and Brighton Hospice for the selfless love and support of Suzanne over the past few years.
We welcome you to share your memories of Suzanne here on her tribute wall.
