Terry Spennetta

Mazomanie - Terry Spennetta, 77, of Mazomanie Wisconsin, died Friday, June 1, 2018. He was born June 2, 1940, to the late Paul H. and Helen (Volberding) Spennetta of Morton Grove Illinois, Terry met his late wife, Barbara at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1966. He worked for the University's Department of Nutritional Science, where he made many contributions to medicine's understanding of cholesterol and lipid function.

As a member of the Hoofer's outing club, Terry made significant contributions to the White Water, Quiet Water publication, discovering several whitewater runs in Northern Wisconsin.

Terry was a member of the Army and the Army National Guard as an x-ray specialist and medical corpsman. He had sharpshooter badges in rifle and carbine, as well as an expert qualification in both.

Terry was an avid tennis player and golfer and enjoyed many watersports, including sailing and canoeing. Along with his wife Barb, he taught numerous students the fundamentals of Scuba Diving.

He volunteered with RSVP as a medical appointments driver, and with Middleton High School where he tutored students in Chemistry. He was named volunteer of the week for his tutoring.

Survivors include his daughter, Shari (Spennetta) Corey and granddaughters, Karen Corey and Kimberly Mayne; son, James (Tami) and grandson, Josiah; and son, Joseph and grandson, Christian. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen, his sister, Conchita, and his wife, Barb.

A funeral service will be at HIGH POINT CHURCH, 7702 Old Sauk Rd. Madison, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow. Visitation is at the church on Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to Heifer International or Life Outreach International.
