Thodore ""Ted"" E. Losby

March 24, 1925 — February 21, 2009

Theodore ""Ted"" Losby , age 83, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009.   He was born March 1925, the son of the late Louis and Emma Losby.   Ted graduated from Sparta High School in 1943 and then entered the Army serving in World War II with the 75th Infantry Division from 1943-1946.   He received his Masters Degree in both Science and Math while enrolled at UW-Madison which is where he met and married the late Catherine Jones.   His first teaching job was at Merrill HS from 1949-1956.   He and Kay then moved to Madison where he taught at Cherokee Middle School and when Memorial High School opened up he transferred there until he retired in 1987. Ted was extremely active during his life with a variety of school athletic coaching positions, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Saint Vincent DePaul, Salvation Army and the Knights of Columbus. Ted was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church for over 50 years.   Ted is survived by his children; Bill, Tom, Carol (John) Dunne, Ted (Kathy), Mary (Rob) Engelhart and Lisa (Randy) Licht;   grandchildren:   Kara Losby, Joe and Lisa (Stephan Moore) Losby, Matt and Logan Dunne, Melissa Losby, Geoff, Sean, and Casey Engelhart, Andrew and Holly Licht: great grandchild, Hayden Moore; and many nephews and cousins.   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February   26, 2009, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.   Monsignor Kenneth Fiedler will be officiating.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Queen of Peace School Endowment Fund.   Ted was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, greatgrandpa and friend.   Together Ted and Kay raised a family that will miss him dearly...
