Sun Prairie-Thomas A. Bareis, age 88, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center. Tom was born on April 11, 1923 in Bristol the son of George & Thea (Skrenes) Bareis. On Oct. 17, 1942, Tom and Jessie Whipple were united in marriage in Sun Prairie. Together they enjoyed almost 69 years of marriage. Tom served our country during WWII in the Army infantry in the South Pacific. He was the owner/operator of Tom's Sheet Metal & Heating in Sun Prairie. He served on the Dane County Board as a supervisor, was a member of the Zor Shrine, Sun Prairie Lions and the American Legion Post 333 and V.F.W. Post 936 both of Sun Prairie. He was also a Brewer's, Packer's and Badger's fan. Tom was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Although he had many interests in his life, his family was of the utmost importance, especially his granddaughters. Tom is survived by his wife, Jessie, son Craig (Karen) all of Sun Prairie and granddaughters Stephanie and Susan both of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. A Memorial Service will be held at the Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie at 11:30 on Friday, October 7, 2011 with Rev. Dr. David Berggren officiating. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again from 10:30 until the time of service on Friday. Full Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Sun Prairie area veterans. A reception will follow in the funeral home's community room. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sun Prairie Health Care Center for their devotion to Thomas.
