Thomas M. Grundahl

Thomas M. "Tom" Grundahl, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024. He was born on August 13, 1938 to Bennie and Verna (Martinson) Grundahl. He grew up on a dairy farm in Daleyville, WI, with his three siblings. Tom graduated from Mt. Horeb High School in 1956 and the following year he married Ethel Jenson at Perry Lutheran Church.

Tom worked as an electrician for most of his life.  He started his own electrical and refrigeration service in Waterloo. He was known to be hardworking, and dependable. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Tom had strong hands and a tender heart. He was a man of few words with a smirk that said it all.

He was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Club, Chapter H, for many years. Tom enjoyed playing cards, watching the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers, and being the shuffleboard champion. He and Ethel loved going on cross-country road trips with relatives and riding motorcycles with friends. They spent the last 23 winters in Arizona, escaping the cold and enjoying the sun.

Tom will be missed by his wife of 66 years, Ethel, and their six children: Mark (Deb) Grundahl, Gary (Karen) Grundahl, Randy (Cindy) Grundahl, Dan (Carol) Grundahl, Brenda (Greg Faust) Grundahl, Mitch (Lora) Grundahl, along with 19 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.  He will also be missed by his siblings: Karolyn Carlson, Brad (Karen) Grundahl, and Alice (Jack) Graham, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Verna, as well as his brother-in-law; Richard Carlson.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 9:30 am to 11 am at Lakeview Lutheran Church, 4001 Mandrake Road, Madison, WI 53704, directly followed by the service. Memorials can be made to Lakeview Lutheran Church.

Your battery drill has finally run out, Grandpa, so go rest easy, you deserve it.
