Thomas James Hart

HART, THOMAS JAMES (Tom), age 84, peacefully passed away on Thursday December 30th at Attic Angel Place in Middleton, WI.   Tom was born February 14, 1926 to Matthew J. (Sr) and Katherine Hart in Ashland, WI. Tom attended public school in Glidden, WI later attending Central Michigan College of Education completing his Naval Training program before graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with degrees in Civil Engineering and Naval Science.   Tom married Elizabeth Ann Tandvig (Betty Ann) on May 28, 1949. He was a member of the Naval Reserve after serving in the U.S Navy during World War II.   Tom was employed with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation from 1948 until 1986.   He served as the Deputy Director of Transportation from 1970 to 1974.   Tom was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Retired Officers Association, Wisconsin Society of Engineers, Kiwanis and the American Legion in Glidden, WI.    He and Betty Ann had a summer home on Buffalo Lake in Northern Wisconsin, which was their favorite place to be and spent many happy times there with family and friends.     Tom is survived by his wife   of 61 years, Elizabeth Ann, children Peggy (Phil) Wechter of Ridgeway, Susie (Randy) Eccles of Colfax, CA, Nancy (John) Blindauer of Cross Plains and Margie (John) Muroni of Greendale, grandchildren Megan (Aaron) Statz , Gina Muroni, Peter Muroni, Lucas (Gwyn) Blindauer, Jennifer (Rick) Camarillo,   Jonathon Eccles   and numerous nieces and nephews.   He is further survived by sister Katherine Bourgeois and brother-in-law Sherman Tandvig.   Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Francis, Matt, Jr. and Robert, grandson Matthew Wechter, and many other relatives and close friends.   Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, WI on Tuesday January 4 at 12:00 with visitation one hour prior to the service.   In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice Care, Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI, 53711 in Thomas Hart's name.
