Thomas Klein Nisbet passed away on July 28th, 2011 after battling heart failure and leukemia.
Tom was born on January 9th, 1931 in Richland Center to Thomas and Eva (Klein) Nisbet. Tom spent most of his childhood in southwestern Wisconsin. He graduated first in his class at Columbia University's School of Architecture in 1955 winning a fellowship to study architecture in Europe. On August 27, 1954 he married Lynette Patricia MacIntyre. They enjoyed 57 wonderful years. Tom was an architect at Flad Architects for many years, then owned Nisbet Architects. We have all enjoyed his exceptional designs including the WARF and Vilas Hall buildings on the UW campus, National Guardian Life, and Sentry World Headquarters in Stevens Point. Tom was a lifetime member of Nakoma Golf Club and gifted artist. His landscape and wildlife paintings will be cherished forever.
Tom is survived by his wife Patty and three sons Bruce (Bonnie) Nisbet, Jay (Tonya) Nisbet and Chris (Kate) Nisbet, of Madison. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Alex, Trent, William, Dani and Olivia and a sister, Mary (Oscar) Beach of Bedford, Ohio. Tom will forever be remembered for his intellect and quick wit. He was rarely seen without a book and was always ready to talk about art and literature.
