Thomas Tarpey, Sr.

Those whom we love are never really lost to us as long as they’re remembered.  Thomas Paul Tarpey, Sr. of Sun Prairie left us on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 but will be remembered by Kathy, his wife of 62 years, and a large, loving family and friends.

A graduate of Loyola University and the University of Michigan, where he earned his Master’s degree in Business, Tom and Kathy left their Chicago area homes to raise their large family in Minneapolis and Sheboygan, WI; eventually moving to Sun Prairie to retire.

Following a career in management with Jewel and J.C. Penney, Tom provided clarity and understanding as an instructor in Business at Lakeshore College where he was instrumental in helping students find their way.

Helping people was central to his character, something his former students have attested to.  Endlessly curious about the world around him and the people in it, Tom also had the knowledge and skills to make it better.  Those characteristics led him and Kathy to travel extensively- teaching English in Thailand and Peru through Maryknoll, as well as visiting Kenya, Germany, Japan, and many other countries around the world.

Tom had a good life, well lived, and will be missed.

Services were held on Friday, January 20, 2023.
