Thomas Vichos, 87, passed away April 27, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born in Twinsburg, Ohio in 1935 to the late Tony and Mary (Vidmar) Vichos. He had five siblings and attended Twinsburg Schools graduating with the class of 1953.

Tom was an avid woodworker and belonged to Northeastern Wisconsin Woodworkers Guild. After retirement, he spent many hours on woodworking projects in his basement workshop. As a boy, he developed a love for golf while caddying and working in golf course maintenance. Golf became a lifelong passion and joy. He belonged to Northbrook Country Club for a number of years. Tom looked forward to his yearly fishing trips to Minnesota. His fishing buddies called him the “Walleye Man” because of his special knack for catching walleye. A loyal Packer fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to watch them play.

In 1959, Tom graduated from Kent State University with a degree in chemistry and math. He joined Dow Chemical in Cleveland, Ohio where his career in packaging began. In 1979, he was hired by Schreiber Foods as director of packaging development. A major career accomplishment was initiating the creation and managing the construction of the Capri Packaging Plant in Clinton, MO, which successfully packaged materials for Schreiber and a number of external customers.

Tom is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 48 years Patricia (Gordon) Vichos; his daughters: Jennifer (Todd) Marks, Kelly Vichos, Deborah (Josh) Abrahams, Susan (Paul) Edwards, Karen (Chad) Foster, and son, Scott Pohner. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Graham Marks, Madilyn Marks, and Gus Abrahams, Kaitlin Smith, Tom Jilek, Kandace Jilek, Drew Foster, Shaun Foster. He is further survived by his three great grandchildren Madelynn, Leila, and Isabel.

Preceding Tom in death are his parents, sons Brad Pohner and Christopher Vichos, sisters Bess (Howard) Myers, Anastasia (Forest) Smith, Violet (Richard) Reer, Christopher Vichos and William Vichos.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Agrace for their thoughtful care and support during Tom’s last days.

A memorial service will be held for Tom this summer in Minocqua, WI.
