Thomas L. Walsh passed away at the age of 90 peacefully at home on January 5th surrounded by his family.
Thomas was born in 1933 to Ambrose and Mildred Walsh in Joliet. He was married to the love of his life, Barbara J. Walsh (nee Zupancic) for 61 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their three children, Brian (Tammie) Walsh, Susan (Steven) Leggero and Janice (Christopher) Hurley. He had 9 grandchildren including Derick, Jacob, Jessica, Michael (Katie), Joshua, CJ, Kassie, Justin and Katie. He is also survived by his sister, Margie Vandenburgh from California. He is also survived by sister-in-law Sharon (James) Dillon and sister in laws Paulette and Helen Walsh. Thomas was also survived by another sister-in-law Janet Zupancic, who sadly passed away two days after his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Mildred Walsh, brother, John (Jack) Walsh, son, Michael Walsh, daughter-in-law Angela Walsh and granddaughter, Jessica Walsh. Tom is also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Raymond and Alida Zupancic, and brother in laws, Raymond and Richard (Dick) Zupancic.
Thomas graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. He grew up on many farms where he learned the love of farming and always dreamed of owning his own farm. Thomas was drafted into the Army and stationed in Utah. He built a 25-year career at Commonwealth Edison working from the bottom up showing his dedication and love for learning and growth.
He loved spending time with his wife and raising their children together. They moved to Wisconsin 30 years ago where he loved fishing and being outdoors. He had the best sense of humor and the greatest smile. He loved learning new things on his computer and phone. He was very strong in his faith and a compassionate person. Tom enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren.
