Thomasine M. Biwersi, age 101, a long-time resident of Dane, and, in recent years, a resident at Sun Prairie Senior Living in Sun Prairie passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on September 28, 2023 in Sun Prairie. Thomasine was born in Dane, Wisconsin on October 11, 1921 to Anthony and Margaret (Becker) Miller. Thomasine graduated from Lodi High School in 1939. Thomasine married Lester William Biwersi on August 28, 1941. Thomasine was a life-time member of Saint Michael’s Church in Dane, Wisconsin. In addition to making a home for her husband and three children, Thomasine provided cleaning services for Dr. William Marquis in Waunakee for nine years in the 1960’s. For ten years, from 1969 to 1979, she worked as an animal care technician tending to research mice for Life Technology. From 1979 to 1984, she performed similar work as a Cancer Research Animal Care Technician at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Thomasine retired from the UW to take care of her husband, Lester, in his final years. She later worked part time as an aid and crossing guard for Dane Elementary School for 14 years. Thomasine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and also performed volunteer work for the Dane Senior Center and Saint Michael’s Church.
Thomasine lived in Dane, Wisconsin for 83 years and, in 2004, moved to Sun Prairie to live closer to her sons. Thomasine was very active in retirement. She volunteered at the Colonial Club Senior Center (Red Hat Ladies) in Sun Prairie, at a non-profit day care center, and at Kindred Heart Independent & Assisted Living, Sun Prairie. When Thomasine was not volunteering, she liked to make quilts, travel, and play cards (Euchre and 500 Rummy). Most of all, Thomasine enjoyed her family with open arms whenever the family would visit.
Thomasine was preceded in death by her husband, Lester William Biwersi; both sons, William (Bill) Lester Biwersi and Douglas John Biwersi; grandson, Todd M. Biwersi; sisters, Rosemary (Miller) Niesen, Delores (Miller) Hicks, Lucille (Miller) DiCello, and Genevieve (Miller) Schmidt; and brothers-in-law, Vincent Niesen, Sr., James Hicks, John DiCello, and Howard Schmidt.
Thomasine is survived by her daughter, Thomasine (Dale) Thompson, Frankfort, IL, her daughter-in-law, Connie (Lovick) Biwersi, Marshall, WI and many nieces and nephews.
Her grandchildren are: René (Ira) Andruss, Troy Biwersi, Mark (Jennifer) Biwersi, Scott (Beata) Thompson, Anna (Kevin) Thompson-Muszynski, and Mark (Patti) Thompson. Great-grandchildren are: Thomas Biwersi; Michael and Lené Andruss; Kiera, Gabriel, Kenzie, Kyan, and River Biwersi; Nik and Christian Blaske; Adam and Veronica Thompson; Aubrey and Alex Muszynski; and Aria and Harper Thompson. Great-great-grandchildren are: Alexa, Michael, Brooke, and Austin Biwersi; and Aleyah and Iyonna Andruss.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. Oct 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St Michael Catholic Church Dane Blessed Trinity Parish 109 S. Military Rd Dane. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
