Tim Ring

December 27, 1951 — June 16, 2016

McFarland- Tim Ring passed away on June 16, 2016 at his home after a brief illness. Tim was born on Dec 27, 1951 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Don and Florine (Ballweg) Ring.

Tim worked in the family business, the Park Ponderosa Ballroom, for 37 years. He was instrumental in expanding the genres of music offered by bringing bands such as Little Vito and the Torpedoes and Asleep At The Wheel to the Ponderosa. Tim had a deep appreciation for music, and recalled many happy hours as a child listening to his father's country western band rehearse in the basement of the family home. Tim was a kind and generous man with a wonderful sense of humor, who loved people and serving them great food, both at the Park Ponderosa Ballroom, and through his business, Picadilly Catering.

Tim married Sue Sanford on October 21, 1978 at Lakeview Lutheran Church in Madison. Tim and Sue lived in the beautiful Town of Dunn for the past 26 years. Tim enjoyed birds, especially the orioles and warblers during their migration. He marveled at birds in graceful flight and often commented about their freedom of movement, something he longed for in the later years of his life. Tim also relished spending time in Bonita Springs, Florida each year. He was a fan of all types of Wisconsin sports, particularly Badger hockey, having attended all home games for 27 years, as well as several national championships.

Tim is survived by his wife, Sue; mother, Florine; brothers, Todd (Denise) and Tom Ring of McFarland; brother-in-law, Tom Sanford of Sun Prairie; and his nieces and nephews, Tanner and Talia Ring, Trevor Ring, and Chance, Chelsey and Chandler Sanford. He was a proud godfather to Chance and Tanner. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Tim will be dearly missed by his family and his dog, Brie.

A private memorial service will be held. Those wishing to make a memorial gift are encouraged to contribute to The Ding Darling Nature Preserve of Sanibel Island, Florida, to The Luke House of Madison, or to the Town of Dunn for the Dunn Heritage Park.

The family would like to extend its appreciation to Agrace whose staff made it possible for Tim to be at home for his final days. A special thank you to our many friends who kept in close touch, providing support, prayers and offers of assistance throughout Tim's illness.

Cress Funeral Home of McFarland is assisting the family. Memories may be shared on their website.
