Timothy Fraley
1957-2021
Timothy S. Fraley, age 63, of Madison, WI, passed away peacefully on Oct. 15th, 2021 at his home. He was born in Laramie, Wyoming on November 14th, 1957, son of Janice Rice and Robert Fraley. In 1973, Timothy moved to Barron, WI where he worked on his grandmother’s farm for several years until he returned to Missoula, Montana. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of Montana. He then moved to Madison, WI in 1987, shortly after the birth of his son, Wade and where his daughter Larissa was later born in 1989. Both of whom he loved dearly.
Timothy found his love for the outdoors from the beauty of Montana, where he would frequently visit family to go fishing and hunting. Also, fond memories are shared from hunting season in northern Wisconsin with son, Wade. Timothy enjoyed going to sporting events either professional or watching his children play their heart out. In the last year, he became a grandfather, and loved spending time with his granddaughter, Bailey. Timothy was involved in many parts of the local community as president/member of Trout Unlimited (Nohr Chapter), member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, scout leader in Boy Scouts, 24-year hockey referee for the Dane County Hockey Officials Association (DCHOA). After two decades, he recently retired from the Department of Health and Family Services where he worked as a project manager. All parts in which he will be greatly missed.
Timothy is survived by son, Wade (Melissa) Fraley; daughter, Larissa (Matt) Steffes; one grandchild, Bailey Steffes; mom, Janice Smith; brothers, Roger (Elaine) Fraley, Steve Kramer; sisters, Mary Kay (Troy) Plaster, Susan Kramer; numerous nieces and nephews, and newest 4th grade fishing buddy, Everett. He was preceded in death by father; Robert ‘Bob’ Fraley, step-mother, Ardella ‘Ardie’ Fraley, and step-father, Harlen Smith.
A private visitation will be held by immediate family only; however, a celebration of life will take place in the Spring 2022, announcement to come soon.
“To laugh often and much to win the respect of intelligent people
And the affection of children.
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
And endure the betrayal of false friends
To appreciate beauty, to leave the world a bit better,
Whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition
To know even one life has breathed easier, because you have lived,
This is to have succeeded.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Every man’s life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another.”
– Ernest Hemingway, author and journalist
