Timothy J. Schmeckel

Madison -- Timothy John Schmeckel, of Madison, died Friday, December 31, 2010 in the University Hospital in Madison after a chronic illness. He was born in Racine on June 3, 1965 to Robert and Janette (Schaefer) Schmeckel. He was a graduate of Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. He had a life-long dedication to improving the lives of people with developmental disabilities including: WI Badger Camp, group homes, residential care, respite care, and countless other volunteer projects. He was employed the last 10 years by the Madison School District. Tim embraced his farm heritage, loved dogs, and enjoyed our autumn colors. Tim was also studying to be a Secular Franciscan. He is survived by his husband, Vern Pint of Madison; parents, Robert and Janette of Kansasville; brothers, Peter (Sharon) of Union Grove, James of Union Grove, Thomas (Lisa) of Whitewater; sisters, Mary (Steve) Merkel of Fort Atkinson, Susan (Dave) Porter of Pewaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 120 W. Johnson Street, Madison with Msgr. Kevin Holmes officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at church on Saturday. Special thanks to University Hospital staff for the excellent care they provided Tim and his family during his illness.
