Stoughton- Timothy James Walterscheit, born on November 7, 1946, son of John Henry Walterscheit and Helen Elizabeth Oncken in Monona, Wisconsin, passed away June 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. A father, grandfather, and husband, Tim lived a life full of adventure and service. From a young age, Tim was drawn to the sea. His journey began as a deck hand, where he experienced many adventures that shaped his character and fueled his love for the ocean. His maritime career led him to New York City, where he spent many years working in the bustling harbors as a respected tugboat captain. His skill and dedication on the water were admired by colleagues and friends alike.
Tim was the beloved husband of Peggy, who stood by his side through all of his ups and downs. They spent many loving years together and without her support Tim would have left this earth sooner. He is survived by his sons Matthew and Alfred. Tim was also a proud father-in-law to Heather and Felicia, who brought joy and love into the family. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Matthew, Luke, Cora, Alejandro, Pilar, Joaquin, and Mackenzie, who will always remember their grandfather’s large presence and generous ways. Tim was predeceased by his daughter, Kattia & brother Jon whose memory remained a positive light in his life.
Tim will be remembered for his persnickety ways, attention to ‘every’ detail, beautiful smile and blue eyes. Our gratitude to Cal Josselyn, who’s guidance and support throughout the years meant so much to Tim. In his words, ‘Cal helped save my life’.
A private service will be held to honor Tim; time and date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Masonic Temple in Oregon.
Please share your memories of Tim by posting in his Guestbook.
