Tricia Lee Teeter, my beautiful wife, best friend and soulmate passed away on Sunday
June 18th, 2023, from a long and hard fought battle with metastatic breast cancer,
surrounded by her family and closest friends.
To those that knew her, Tricia was fiesty and funny, witty and intelligent, strong and
caring, hardworking and creative, wonderfully adorable and crazy stubborn. She had a
quiet respectful way about her and a beautiful smile that was pure magic! She was the
most amazing mom to our son Kellen, a truly unbreakable bond. It was awe inspiring
how she deftly handle work, domesticity and parenting Kellen, many times alone while I
traveled for work. I believe her crowning achievement was raising Kellen, her “Hot
Shot”, to his “Mama”. She carefully crafted and molded Kellen to be the best version of
himself. Often telling him with a commanding, yet soft touch, “Calm down, you’re fine”.
With her closest friends she was audacious, bold and not afraid to be human in all of its
silly bawdiness. She always made time for the girls and the house would ring with
laughter when they were together.
I am so very grateful our paths crossed 29 years ago while at UW-La Crosse and
together working at WXOW-TV. I loved her right from the start and knew I wanted to be
with her forever. It takes a strong person to be in her world and I was lucky enough to
make the cut. She is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.
Tricia loved her dogs; Shane, Spencer, Harper and Finn, reading her mystery novels,
drinking flavored coffee and Dr. Pepper, hiking state and national parks, traveling with
her family, playing volleyball, being a dedicated sports mom for her son: cheering and
coaching from the sidelines every single game.
Tricia graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a bachelors degree in
Mass Communications and went on to become an award winning Video Production
Editor for over 25 years.
Tricia was preceded in death by her father Michael Teeter, grandparents Fred (Kay) &
Alice Teeter, Harold & Helen Olson, stepfather Dean Hillestad, and mother-in-law
Rozanne Peil. She is survived by her beloved husband Jeff Peil and their amazing, life
changing 16 year old son Kellen. Her besties Jenifer Thompson and Heidi Black.
Mother Vicki Hillestad, sister Tracy Flanagan, brother Travis Teeter, father-in-law Dennis
Peil, sister-in-law Tracey (Bill) Dallapiazza, brother-in-law Scott (Norma) Peil, and many
nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Tricia left an impression on everyone she met. With her quiet determination and
wholehearted passion, she could inspire fear and respect despite her small, cute
stature. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed. I love you so very much
Tricia. Save me a seat at your table, I’ll see you again.
A special thanks to the staff at Agrace Hospice for taking such good care of Tricia.
