STOUGHTON - Valborg Helen Tolley, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2011, surrounded by her family at Stoughton Hospital.
She was born on August 6, 1929 in Stoughton, the daughter of Hans and Ethel (Reichert) Veium, Jr., and after her mother's passing, was raised in Milwaukee by her dear grandparents Frank and Julia Reichert. She graduated from Stoughton High School in 1947, and was employed for over 25 years by The Farm Bureau/Rural Insurance in Madison.
She is survived by her sons, Scott (Wanda) Tolley of Arizona, and Kirk Tolley of Stoughton; sisters Dorothy Bjerke of Stoughton and Loraine Johnson of McFarland; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and dear friends Beverly and Roger Thompson, Mary Wall, and Liz Kieffer. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother Howard; sisters, Gladys and Elizabeth; and former husband, Paul Eugene Tolley.
She enjoyed cooking and was often praised by family and friends for her Norwegian and Hungarian inspired dishes. Val had fond memories of the many summers spent on the family farm outside of Stoughton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Hwy B, Stoughton, with Rev. Paula Geister-Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, following the burial. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Wednesday at church.
