Madison / Milwaukee - Valerie Maria Hager died on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in Milwaukee, WI. She was born on November 19, 1985, the daughter of Dayle Hager. Valerie attended schools in Madison, and was a member of the cross country team. She graduated with honors from East High School in 2004. Valerie attended the University of Minnesota for 2 years, the transferred to Edgewood, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics. She was named Who's Who Among Students in America's Universities and Colleges. While pursuing her degree, she interned at Wisconsin Mutual Insurance Co., tutored math, served at TGIF and worked at REM caring for challenged people. After graduating, she moved to Milwaukee where she continued working as a server while studying for her actuarial exam, as she planned to become an actuary. Valerie did service work during spring breaks at South Dakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She enjoyed people and made new friends wherever she went. Valerie adored her animals; dogs, Sloan and Pandora, and her cat, Mieke. She also enjoyed music and running. Valerie is survived by her mother, Dayle Hager; her sister, Anastasia Hager; her other mother, Mary Paulson; her significant other, Seth Watson; her grandmother, Shirley Jenkins; many aunts and uncles; dozens of cousins; and hundreds of friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ray Hager; her step-grandfather, Ralph Jenkins; cousins, Jessica Hager and Elysha Hager; and by her great-grandparents. A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison with Msgr. Michael F. Hippee officiating. A visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
