Verena M. Grosse

Verena M. Grosse, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. She was born to Werner and Mary Wipperfurth on May 7, 1922, and raised on a farm near Waunakee. She met the love of her life, Wilfred Grosse, at a dance in Springfield Corners. They were married on May 25,1944 at St. John's Catholic Church, Waunakee. They were temporarily separated by Wilfred's death in 1999, but are now reunited. She was the best mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother that anyone could ask for. Her sense of humor never failed her. She was a very talented seamstress and a meticulous homemaker who was known for her scrumptious homemade bread.

Their marriage was blessed with eight children, Luana (Rod) Schneider of DeForest, Jane (Joseph) Skalitzky of Sun Prairie, Ruth (Robert) Russell of Hollywood, MD, Mary Ann Grosse of Sun Prairie, Robert Grosse (Daiva Caplenas) of Sun Prairie, Nancy (Scott) Lange of Lake Mills, Joan Grosse (George Dahir) of Madison, and Alice Grosse of Madison; ten grandchildren, Brenda (Craig) Lothe, Mary (Steve) Andrae, Tom Schneider (Melanie Sauer), Sara (Jay) Hausser, Matt Skalitzky, Richard Russell, Rachel (Tim) DeGraves, Rebecca Russell (Kyle Lehman), Ben Grosse, Mitchell Lange; and nine great-grandchildren. Verena is also survived by a sister, Mary Ann (Stan) Breunig.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Garden. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Cress Funeral Home 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 before the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be forwarded to Badger Camp (for adults with handicaps), Special Olympics, and Hospice.

The family wishes to thank all of the nurses and CNAs from both Hospice and BrightStar for their caring attention to Mom's needs.
