Verne E. Penfield

Verne E. Penfield, age 96, of Monona/ Waunakee died on Sat., Feb. 24, 2024 at the Waunakee Manor in Waunakee. He was born in Madison on July 19, 1927, the son of Eugene and Florence Penfield.

Verne graduated from West High School in 1945. He then served with the U.S. Army in Korea during 1946 and 1947. After returning home from service, he attended and graduated from Groves Barnhart Business College in 1950. He married Marian Schellhase on May 4, 1957 and she preceded him in death.

He was employed by Madison Dairy Supply-Negus Container Co. for 34 years and retired in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; his parents; his son, Scott; brother, James; and baby sister, Doris. He is survived by 4 nephews, Mark Penfield and Warren , Tim and Steve Leverentz; and 3 nieces, Leanne Kerrigan, Debbie Postweiler and Sandra Jolley. Funeral services will be held on Tues. March 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St Andrews Catholic Church 301 N. Main St Verona, WI. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
