Verne Carl Vlack, age 83, of Middleton, Wisconsin, passed away on June 4th, 2023 in Middleton. He was born on March 8th, 1940 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and was the son of Albert and Caroline Vlack, of Kewaunee, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Vlack of Depere, WI. He married Sharon Bendorf on August 18th, 1962 in Madison, Wisconsin. Verne is survived by his wife Sharon, son Greg (Jenni) Vlack, Fitchburg, WI; Daughter Lisa (John) Constantelos of Clayton, NC; grandchildren Ashley and Alexis Vlack of Madison, WI and Valerie (Noah) Wilson of Raleigh, NC and Stephanie Constantelos also of Raleigh.
Verne was a graduate of Madison West High School and Wisconsin School of Electronics. He began his career in communications at Evans Radio & TV and then established General Communications in 1980. After working in the business for over forty years, he retired while his son Greg and wife Jenni continue to operate the company. Verne had many hobbies and interests over his lifetime. He was a private pilot and volunteered for many years during the months of July at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he provided and maintained the radio equipment and communications for the annual event. Verne was a member of the Madison Elks Lodge #410 and spent summers boating on the Mississippi River. He loved taking cruises with family and friends and traveling to other countries and new places. Verne and Sharon recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
The family would like to thank the medical staff from SSM Health and Hospice for their compassionate and dedicated care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Verne to the Dane County Humane Society, Madison, Wisconsin, Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin, or to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Middleton, Wisconsin.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 12th at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 7337 Hubbard Ave. Middleton, WI 53562. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at church with a luncheon to follow. Verne will be laid to rest following luncheon at Forest Hill Cemetery.
