December 22, 1920 — January 27, 2014

Madison / Waunakee: Vernon R. Brown, age 93, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at Waunakee Manor. Vernon was born in Madison December 22, 1920, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Amdahl) Brown. He was a life- long resident of Madison graduating from West High School in 1940, where he was an All- State football star. Vernon entered the US Army during WWII, and following a medical discharge he continued to serve his country working at Badger Ordinance until the end of the war. He married his childhood neighbor and high school sweetheart, Jane Sansone, June 28, 1941 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Madison. Vernon was a Master Carpenter working for Findorff Construction for 30+ years. He also served as Trustee for the Local 314 Carpenters Union. Vernon always had a smile, and loved his family. The love he had for his family came from his heart, and also his hands as he passed his carpenter skills and talents onto his sons and grandchildren. Whenever and wherever there was something being built, Vern would be there with his tools and endless supply of nails. Vernon is survived by his two sons, Vernon C. Brown, of Waunakee, Gary J. (Deb) Brown of Sun Prairie, four grandchildren; Jodie (Shane) Sorenson and Vernon C. (Sabrina) Brown II, of Waunakee, and Chris (Penny) Brown and Nick Brown of Madison, 11 cherished great-grandchildren, a brother Ed (Pug) Brown, Cottage Grove, sister-in-laws; Betty Brown, Kay Brown, and Joan Sansone, and many nieces and nephews.
