Vincent George Puglielli, age 68, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at home following a six year battle with cancer.  He was born Feb. 12, 1943 in West Newton, Massachusetts, the son of Vincent and Concetta Puglielli.   He graduated from Boston College High School in 1960, and went on to earn a BS in physics from Boston College and an MS and Ph.D. in physics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He was married to Leanne Hoepner of Reinbeck, Iowa on June 15, 1968, and was the proud parent of daughter Lara Catherine Puglielli, of Seattle, Washington, and son David Vincent Puglielli and his wife Darby Marie McVicker Puglielli of Madison, Wisconsin.  Vince and Leanne have one grandchild, Joshua David Puglielli of Madison, Wisconsin. Vince spent his career as a research scientist, first for the Department of the Navy and then for Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio.  He was a nationally recognized expert in the area of electromagnetic vulnerability in devices and systems, and was a visiting professor of physics at the United States Naval Academy.  Upon retirement, he began a second career as an accomplished watercolor artist. Vince considered his love and support of, and his dedication to, his family as his greatest achievement.  Vince was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joseph, and his godparents, Tony and Florence Conti.  He is also survived by: his sister Janet Livoti and husband John of Chandler, AZ; his sister Eileen Puglielli of Waltham, MA; his goddaughter Christine Portlock of Bedford, MA;  his brother Ed Hoepner and wife Marie of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters Gayle Hoepner of Ames, IA, and Mary Jo Hoepner of Colorado Springs, CO; thirteen nieces and nephews; and thirty grand-nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 18th at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1833 Regent St., Madison, Wisconsin with a reception to follow at the church. Vince's ashes will be interred at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham, Massachusetts with his grand-parents, his parents and his brother. In lieu of flowers, Vince asked that donations be sent to The Fund of Boston College High School  (their fund for financial aid).   Checks may be sent to Boston College High School,  150 Morrissey Blvd, Boston, Massachusetts  02125  with a notation In Memory of Vincent G.
