Viola Cantwell

Stoughton- Viola J. Cantwell, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. She was born in Barnum, MN on June 3, 1918 the daughter of Alfred and Karen (Gorseth) Stennes. On April 19, 1941 she married Lyman Cantwell in Oklee, MN. Together they settled in Stoughton and owned and operated Cantwell's Camera Shop for over 40 years. Vi was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church and active in Miriam Circle and Christ Lutheran Quilters. She enjoyed Rosemaling, needlework, quilting, reading, volunteering at Stoughton Hospital and Skaalen Home, and spending time with family and friends. Vi is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen (Dr. Louis) Schmidt of Sidney, OH and Dr. Marilyn Cantwell of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren, Leslie Dunn, Louis Schmidt and Erica (Trevor) Hatchell; four great grandchildren, Matthew Dunn, Tess and Sutton Hatchell and Chelsea Schmidt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Amy (Ted) Cook; and five brothers, Jacob, Manford, Orville, Julian and Arnold. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, January 16, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Road B, Stoughton, with Rev. Paula Geister-Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery South. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the burial, in the church caf�. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and from 2:00 PM until the time of services Monday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Skaalen Home.
