Violet Mae Andersen

Sun Prairie-Violet M. (nee Bedward) Andersen, age 83, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.  She was born on August 27, 1926 in Bridgeport, WI the daughter of Everett & Alta Bedward. Violet was a graduate of Prairie du Chien High School class of 1945. She was united in marriage to George W. Andersen on June 12, 1948 in Madison. They were married for 51 years until his death in 1999.  Violet was a stay at home mom. She was an accomplished baker and candy maker and made hundreds of wedding cakes for family and friends. Every child and grandchild had a favorite treat and Violet always made sure that each one of them had their favorite at Christmas time. For many years she worked at the Vanilla Bean in Madison.  She is survived by her three children, Richard (Debbie) Andersen, Sun Prairie, Mark Andersen, Madison and Sandra Andersen, Sun Prairie; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters, Margrurite Seely, Homosassa, FL, Letha Sawvell, Murphy, NC, Alice Yanna, Fennimore and Arleine Balk, Prairie du Chien; sister-in-law, Catherine Andersen; brother-in-law, Clifford Matney,as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, sisters, Vivian White, Jeannette Glaeve, Joan Bedward, Erma Matney and Caroline Bedward and brothers, Donald, Eldon and Virgil Bedward.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie with reception to follow in the funeral home's community room. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 2-4:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memory Garden Chapel.  The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary's Hospital 8SW for their compassionate comfort care. They also wish to thank the staff of St. Mary's Care Center for the outstanding care and love they gave Violet over the years.
