Virginia Butler

Madison - Virginia "Jinny" Elvera Butler, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at St. Mary's Care Center. She was born June 12, 1921 in Wausau, Wisconsin. Her parents were William and Ella Tesch, who always called her Elvera. Since her marriage in 1943, she has been known to all who knew her as Jinny. She graduated from Wausau High in 1939 and was elected to the National Honor Society for Scholastic Academic and Civic Achievements. She was employed by the U.S. Treasury Department in Chicago, Illinois before her marriage to John C. Butler in 1943 at Fort George Wright Chapel in Spokane, Washington. She loved flower arranging and was the past president of the Meadowood Garden Club at which time a grant was obtained from the Sears Foundation to plant the trees for civic beautification which now stands on the median strip on Raymond Road. She was also a member of the Maria Goretti Wednesday Afternoon Book Club. She was a member of the Women's Aeronautical Association and the ladies auxillaries of her husband's Air Force affiliations. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and its Mission Unit, and the 55 Plus Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; sisters, Nora (Reno) Marquardt, Renata Tesch, Laurina (Herbert) Ungrodt and Beata Teasch; and nephews, Daniel (Jan) Ungrodt and Joel (Lyn) Ungrodt. She is survived by her nephews, Merritt (Betty) Marquardt, Karl (Vel) Marquardt, Judsen (Connie) Marquardt and William (Beverly) Marquardt; a niece, Jane (Chuck) Conklin; 17 grand nephews and nieces; and 28 great grand nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, on the corner of Raymond Road and Whitney Way. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
