Dane - Virginia C. Kuehn (Kalscheuer) passed away on Sept 9, 2011 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center in Madison/ Fitchburg, Wis. after a courageous battle with cancer. She went home at the age of 76 where she joined her parents, John and Caroline (Schroeder) Kalscheuer, her husband, Linus and her sister Marcy Kopp.
Virginia attended grade school at St Peter's in Ashton and graduated from Middleton High School. She married Linus Kuehn on Oct 1, 1955 and he preceded her in death on Dec 11, 1998. They maintained a lifelong residence in Dane. Virginia was a member of St Michaels Catholic Church for 53 years, where she will be buried next to her husband in the church cemetery.
Virginia retired from the State of Wisconsin having worked at Central Wisconsin Center in food service for more than 20 years. She loved to play Euchre, travel, dine out and give advice to friends and family.
Her memory continues through her four children, Michael of Dane, Nancy (Patrick) Kuehn-Thomas of Waunakee, MSGT Jeffrey Kuehn USAF, Ret. (Diane) of Omaha, Nebraska and Karen (Melvin) Denison of Dane. Two more generations follow with three grandsons; Zachary and Kyle Kuehn of Omaha Nebraska, SR Travis Denison, USN of Dane and great-granddaughter Evelyn Bauer of Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Virginia is also survived by three sisters; Lucy Barman of Waunakee, Jane (Ted) Poelma of Lodi and Alice (Deacon Frank) Tagney of Minneapolis and brother-in-laws; Leo Kuehn of Waunakee, Wilfred (Diane) Kuehn of Waunakee, and Joseph (Jane) Kuehn of Dane and sister-in-law; Mary Jane (Dave) Ellickson of Waunakee. She is also survived by an uncle; George (Doris) Schroeder of Waunakee.
Funeral services will be held on Wed. Sept. 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St Michaels Catholic Church in Dane. Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home on Tues. Sept 13, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Wed. from 10:00a.m. until the time of services.
The family would like to thank the staff at UW Hospital Cancer Center for their expert care during the past two years, the staff at Oak Park Place in Middleton for their support and the heartfelt care and support of the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg.
