Virginia Elaine Nelson

December 8, 1920 — March 27, 2010

Virginia E. Nelson, age 89, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Skaalen Home in Stoughton.   She was born in Brooklyn on December 8, 1920, a daughter of Byron and Gladys (Rollins) Hubbard.   On November 16, 1940, she was united in marriage to Obert C. Nelson in Dubuque, Iowa.   Together, they worked side by side on the farm.   Virginia had a great love for her husband, and they were never apart.   She is remembered as a tireless worker, a wonderful cook, and a loving mother, grand mother and great grandmother.   She is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy (Wendell) Lietz, and Linda (Delroy) Stoehr; a son, David Nelson; 8 grandchildren, John (Debbie) Lietz, Jeff (Melanie) Lietz, Wendi (Bid) Gunn, Craig (Cindy) Nelson, Michelle (Doug) Kehm, Aaron (Alexis) Nelson, Michael (Laura) Robertson, and Chelsea (Chad) Berg; 17 great grand-children; 3 great great grand-children; 2 sisters, Marge (Russ) Hyatt and Jean DaWalt; and a sister-in-law, Ann Hanson.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Obert; 4 sisters, Blanche, Bernice, Audrey and Katherine; and a brother, Rollins.   Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 31 at 11:00 am at Cooksville Lutheran Church, 11927 W. Church St., with the Rev. Margo Martens officiating.   Burial will follow at the Cooksville Cemetery.   The family will greet friends at church on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of service.  Memorials may be made to the Cooksville Lutheran Church Barrier Free Project.   Special Thanks to the staff at Skaalen Home and HospiceCare, especially to Lenore.
