Virginia Ray

STOUGHTON - Virginia "Jean" Ray, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 1, 2019 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Jean was born August 9, 1956 in Madison to Virgil and Gloria Dieter. She married Joe Ray on August 16, 2001 in Nevada. Jean was Ray's companion, wife and most of all his best friend.
She is survived by her husband Joe Ray of Stoughton; sons John Lee of River Falls, WI., Burton Mahlum of Illinois, Berry Mahlum of Madison, Anthony Zeman of Madison, daughter Bertina Mills of Waterloo, WI., step sons Joshua Ray of Minnesota and Michael Mahlum of Nevada; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 57 foster children and 23 grandchildren from them; her brothers Patrick Dieter of Madison and Joseph Dieter of Madison; sisters Annie Dieter of Florida and Susan Dieter of Hawaii.
A celebration of life for Jean will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday August 24, 2019 at AMERICAN LEGION POST 59, 803 N Page St, Stoughton. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service at the Legion Hall on Saturday.
