Madison -- Vivian E. Fry, age 93, died on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Covenant Oaks at Oakwood West. She was born on August 22, 1914 to Clarence and Mathilda (Christopherson) Hanson in Allamakee County, Iowa. Vivian was employed at the Madison Newspapers, retiring in 1975. She was very proud to tell of her trip in 1937 to Washington DC with the family of U.S. Representative Fred Biermann of Iowa. Vivian is survived by one sister, Cora Disney of Vacaville, California. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Willard Logan Fry; two brothers, Carmen Hanson, Sr. and Alton Hanson; and two sisters, Marvel Dalsass and Afton French. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH in the GOOD SHEPHERD CHAPEL, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison, with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Richard Lund will officiate services. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Covenant Oaks at Oakwood Village West for their wonderful care and kindnesses to Vivian, and to the many Hospice staff for their compassion and support during these past weeks, as well as clergy and visitors from Bethel Lutheran Church.
