DEERFIELD -- Vivian E. Schrank, age 87, died unexpectedly on January 16, 2009 surrounded by family at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born October 10, 1921 in Deerfield, Wisconsin, to Johnnie and Mabel (Simonson) Legreid. She married Walter Ireland on May 31, 1941 in Deerfield. He died September 28, 1944 in WWII. She married Herbert Schrank on December 14, 1946 in Deerfield. She was a graduate of Deerfield High School. Throughout her life she was employed at Shaul's Restaurant, Deerfield Schools in food service, JC Penney's, and in 1985 retired from GTE after 16 years of employment. She was a life long member of St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church in rural Deerfield. She was a member of the Hope Circle and participated in the quilt ministry. She was also a member of Legion Auxiliary. Vivian enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors. Some of her greatest joys came from time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, on September 9, 1999; her parents; a brother, Russell; and two sisters, Charlotte Kraby and Joann Hedding. She is survived by two children, Nancy (Gale) Getschman, Baraboo, and Richard (Gaylene) Ireland, Deerfield; five grandchildren, Tamara (Regginald) George, Deerfield, Todd (Amy) Matheson, Deerfield, Joshua Ireland (Denel Buss), Deerfield, Richard (Jamie) Matheson III, Madison, and John Ireland, Deerfield; two step-granddaughters, Teri Sonsolla, Baraboo, Sherri Peterson, Amherst; six great grandchildren, Kayla and Cameron George, Deerfield, Reece and Kadin Matheson, Deerfield, and Drew and Sheyn Matheson, Madison; five step-great grandchildren, Whitney and Kyle Sonsolla, Baraboo, Samantha, Melissa, and Jessica Peterson, Amherst.. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Liberty Lutheran Church, 3494 Oak Park Road, Deerfield. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
