Vivian J. Williams

Vivian J. (Hall) Williams, age 89, passed away peacefully at Belmont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Madison, WI, on Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Vivian was born on December 18, 1919 in Wetang, Illinois to William and Eva Hall.   She was the fifth child of ten born to this union and grew up in Madison, Illinois.     Vivian worked as a cook at a fraternity house at the University of Wisconsin for several years, and then she was employed by the University Hospital for 18 years until she retired. She was a volunteer with the Dane County SOS Senior Council for many years. She was a member and supporter of the Burr Oaks Neighborhood Association. She was a founding and Pioneer Member of the Second Baptist Church.   Vivian will be remembered as a woman who always spoke her mind and could converse on a number of interesting topics. She leaves us with cherished and precious memories of love and support. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband Sherman Williams, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.   She is survived by a brother, John (Dorothy) Hall, Cahokia, IL and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins, her goddaughter Charlene (Jim) Elioff, Fridley, MN, and close friend Patricia Hays. Special acknowledgements to Vivian's adopted son's Bradley Boyle and Greg Radtke, they were her constant companions later in her life.     Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road. On Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. a visitation will be held at Second Baptist Church, 4300 Britta Parkway, Madison, WI, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m.   The family wishes to thank Dr. Kostelyna and his staff for years of excellent healthcare. Additional thanks to all the staff at Belmont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for 14 months of loving care.
