Walter “Wally” Hellenbrand

Middleton – Walter M. Hellenbrand, age 85, passed away on December 31, 2023.  He was born on January 10, 1938 in Ashton WI, he was a wonderful and caring grandfather, father, husband, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Walter in his early years worked on the family farm and then as a cement truck driver for Capitol Readymix and Findorff.  He was a "driver" and not just in his career, but when something needed to be done, he did it. If a family member or friend asked for help, he responded. His family was his primary care and concern, his prized gift. An avid hunter, fisherman and card player, who bought great joy and laughter with his silly antics.  Even in his later stage of Alzheimer’s he was cherished by those who cared for him.

He is survived by his loving family, son Michael Hellenbrand, daughters Nancy (Cor) Zethof, Pamela (Don) Brown, Lucy (Cory) Kubly, and granddaughters Taura and Athena Kubly, brothers and sisters, Victor (Shirley), Dorothy (Glenn) Mack, Lawrence (Agnes), Esther (James) Esser, JoAnn (Larry) Borek, Carol (Thomas) Igl, and Alvin (Elaine) and many nieces and nephews.

Wally was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, sons Perry and Martin, son-in-law Barry Roberts, parents, Henry and Agnes, and his brothers, Henry Jr., Herman, Jerome, Anthony and Charles, and his sisters-in-law Bernadette.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St Peter's Catholic Church 7121 County Trunk K, Middleton/ Ashton. Fr. Brian Dulli will officiate.  Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home in Waunakee. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

A special thank you to Lisa, Wanda, Kerri, Pam, Bev, Julie, Uriah, Sarah, Amber, Adam, and all those who work at BeeHive of Mt. Horeb for the love and care that they provided to Wally as he progressed in his disease with Alzheimers.
