Walton A. Wally' Nelson, age 89, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Â Wally was born at the home of Edith Lockwood, midwife, in Edgerton. Â He graduated from Edgerton High School in 1938 and married Viola Jenson in 1942. Â He served four years in the Army, participating in the occupation of Japan, and was discharged in 1946. Â Wally worked for the Albion Township, retiring after 37 years of dedicated service. Â He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will also be remembered for his generous nature, love of animals and soft heart. Â Wally is survived by his wife of 67 years, Viola; 3 children, Dennis Nelson, Janice (Mike) Watkins, and Vicki Nelson; 2 grandchildren, Brad ( Sharon) Nelson and Greg (Gretchen) Nelson; 2 great grandchildren, Emily and Lucas Nelson; a brother, Wesley Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. Â He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gilman, Howard, and Ruffin Nelson; and 2 sisters, Amber Driscoll and Audrey Thompson. Â Â Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Â Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery South in Stoughton. Â The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 12th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and again on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Â A full obituary will follow. Â
