STOUGHTON- Wayne Jesse Buss, age 73, died on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Wayne was born on January 8, 1936 in Withee, Wisconsin a son of the late William & Amanda (Jesse) Buss. He was a 1954 graduate of Madison East High School and was married to the former Joan Johnson on July 16, 1955 in Madison. Wayne served is country serving two years in the United States Navy. Wayne was a Master Plumber and work for the State of Wisconsin as a Plumbing Inspector retiring April 30, 1998. He was very active in his community and was a member of many organizations. Wayne was a member of the Stoughton American Legion Post 59, a past treasurer and currently active on the Honor Guard; a member of Cooksville Masonic Lodge and three times Past Master; a member of Madison Scottish Rite Bodies; the Stoughton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 328; a member of and past treasurer of the Shillelagh Foundation; he served on the Commission for Aging for the Town of Dunkirk; and was a very active member of Covenant Lutheran Church, having served on and as President of the Church Council and Treasurer of the Church Foundation. Wayne loved to play cards and took time to enjoy fishing and golfing. Wayne is survived by: his wife, Joan; 5 children, Katie (Pete) Vandenhouten, Green Bay; Kari (Randy) Roneid, Stoughton; Kelly Buss, Stoughton; William (Erica) Buss, Stoughton; Wayne Dewey' Buss, Stoughton; 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth Allen-Vandenhouten; Michael; Matthew; and Emily Vandenhouten; Ross; and Renee Roneid; Jenna; and Ryan Buss; 2 great grandchildren, Jakob & Elissa Allen; a sister, Shirley Dahle, Duarte, CA; many nieces and nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents Wayne was preceded in death by: a brother, Marvin Buzz' Buss; foster parents, Catherine & Forrest Black; and stepmother, Louise Buss. Funeral services celebrating Wayne's life will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 11:00 am at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton with the Rev. Margo Martens officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, February 23, 2009 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again at the church from 10:00 am till service. Military Honors will be performed by the Stoughton American Legion Post 59 following the service at the church. A lunch will follow at the Stoughton American Legion. Memorials maybe made in Wayne's memory to the Stoughton American Legion Post 59 or the Covenant Lutheran Church Foundation.
