Wayne B Fergusson, 73, passed away at home on December 3rd, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Wayne fought a long battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Denise (Gartlan), his son Shawn (Stephanie Moon), his 3 daughters, Erin (Chris) Frey, Meghann (Brian) Albert, Briana (Brandon) Hiebing and 7 grandchildren, Allison, Jenna, Elsie, Jack, Norah, Hailey and Kaitlyn. He is survived by his sister Kathleen McMinn, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Yonkers, New York where his grandfather Bernard Dillon fostered his love of Ice Cream. Wayne served in the Army as a chef in Italy during the Vietnam War. Receiving an overseas discharge, he traveled around Europe for 3 months having, "the best time of my life," he always said. Wayne was a great storyteller about his past. He would reminisce about growing up, family and all his travels. Storytelling was such a part of who he was and it gave him great joy in sharing. Wayne graduated from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York with a degree in psychology. He married his loving wife on August 28, 1971.
Wayne worked in diamond blade sales where he excelled at forging long lasting relationships that made him a Million Dollar Salesman. His job brought him to Madison in 1977 where he made this his home, becoming an avid Badger fan. Wayne never did switch over to the Packers as he was a die-hard Giants fan. It was fitting the last NFL game he watched on TV was the Packers vs. the Giants. As a family man he was a caring and supportive husband, father and Papa. His love of golf was a passion that filled his free time. Even when he didn't feel good, he rallied on golf days. Wayne's final days were spent at home with his family all around watching the Badgers and playing Rummy 500. His humor persevered to the end.
