North Freedom - Major Wayne Alan Scholze, age 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 21, 2011. Wayne lived an amazing life filled with adventure and travel, which he shared with his loving daughter, Steffanie.
After graduating high school, Wayne served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He later transitioned into the United States Army Reserves, where he proudly served for 27 years with the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion in Green Bay, WI. Wayne was retired from CUNA Mutual, where he worked for many years. He lived life to the fullest, always active, involved in a project, helping family and friends, or enjoying a great glass of wine and a cigar.
He is survived by his daughter, Steffanie (Josh) Scholze of Sumner, IA; his sister, Valorie (Scholze) Bell of Benton, AR; his sister Vicki (Frank) Nichols of Hungry Horse, MT; and his brother David (Sue) Scholze of Watervliet, MI. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Scholze and Ruthann (Akins) Scholze; his brother, Ray Scholze; and his daughter, Jennifer Ann Scholze.
In respect of Wayne's requests, funeral services will not be held. In place of this, a life celebration will take place on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse in Middelton, WI from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his daughter, Steffanie Scholze, care of Cress Funeral Service.
