McFarland – Wayne Morris Simpson, age 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 12, 2021, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born September 25, 1941, in Stoughton to the late Morris and Hattie (Halverson) Simpson. He lived his whole life in the McFarland area and farmed with his father for many years. This inspired his love of restoring old lawn tractors. He is a graduate of Oregon High School. Wayne married Susann Jo Hanson at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on April 11, 1964, and again on Aug 22, 1987. Wayne loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a lineman for MG&E for over 38 years.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Susann; 2 children Mike Simpson (Angie) and Sheri Simpson; 2 grandchildren Justin Simpson (Bri), and Evan McIntyre; sister Joy (Don) Lederman, brother Gene (Sue) Simpson, Gregg (Brenda) Simpson, sister Sue Simpson; and is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Jeff Imse and Maynard McIntyre.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday August 17, 2021, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 5801 Hwy 51 McFarland with Fr. Chad Droessler presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
