Waunakee-Werner Diederich age 90, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center, with his family at his side. He was born on Sept 27, 1920 in Waunakee to Julius and Anna (Endres) Diederich. Werner was united in marriage to Arlene Hebl on June 15, 1950 in Sun Prairie. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Waunakee American Legion Post 360. Following his military service he worked at Diederich's Meat Market, a family business in Waunakee, for many years. He was also employed by the State of Wisconsin at the Central Wisconsin Center until his retirement in 1987. Werner and Arlene had a permanent campsite at Crystal Lake in Lodi and enjoyed time there with family and friends. He also enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers and attending Badger games with his friends. Going to the casino was also a favorite pastime for Warner and Arlene.
Survivors include his wife Arlene; two sons, Steve (Katie) of Beaver Dam and Mike of Stoughton; a grandson Nathan Diederich of Madison; a brother Meinrad Diederich of Waunakee. He was preceded in death by two sisters Philomene and Betty and a brother Bernard.
Funeral services will be held on Wed. April 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St Waunakee. Friends may call on Tues. April 19, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home in Waunakee. Friends may also call at the church on Wed. from 10:00a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Werner's easy going, caring, loving ways, will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
